Does my Business Really Need a Social Media Presence?
The simple answer is yes! Your business needs a social media presence. It is not the only thing your business needs but it certainly a big component of running a business in today’s modern world. 61% of start ups are using social media for marketing if you’re not, your missing out on a massive piece of the pie.
There are over 500 million tweets, 4.5 billion likes on Facebook and 95 million photos uploaded to Instagram every single day!! You can use this information to gather profiles about your customers, develop target customers and find out how your customers feel about your brand.
By 2018 2.5 billion people are expected to be using social media and 57% of those people are influenced after seeing positive comments or praise online. Facebook and Instagram combined are responsible for 1 in 5 minutes that you are on your mobile phone cruising social media.
Don’t think social media is for you? More than half of CEO’s in top global companies have appeared in a company video. People buy from people they know, like and trust. If they don’t know the person leading the mission and vision of the company then how can they get to know you, like you and trust you?
When you have an active presence on social media, you make it easier for customers to find and connect with you. A study by The Social Habit shows that 53% of Americans who follow brands on social are more loyal to those brands.
But isn’t every one doing it? No there are 40million active business pages in Facebook but only 2 million are paying for advertising therefore it would be easy for a small business to surpass the competition. Saying that Over 67% of consumers now go to social media for customer service so you really should be online.
So what does it do for my website and my business? Social media is fantastic for boosting your SEO, the more times your web address is shown on the Internet the better it is for your website in Google and other search engines. Social media helps you build relationship with your customers, it is a two-way channel which allows you to build on those relationships and create brand loyalty. This is something traditional advertising just doesn’t have.
Social media adverts can be targeted so that you are hitting your target customers and can be as specific as gender, location, interests and behaviours. In today’s current social media environment it is important that you are running targeted adverts to reach out to customers. These need to be measured analysed and reevaluated regularly to ensure you are getting the best from your advertising budget.
Now you know that it is a must it is also good to know that 22% of social media marketing activities are performed by outside agencies. If you don’t have the resources or capacity in your current team, outsource it. It can be a lot better value for your business rather than paying a full time member of staff.
